Reefer container

Refrigerated containers are now used in almost all areas of the shipping industry. Whether medicines, meat, fish, vegetables or chemicals, goods that have to maintain certain temperatures are increasingly being transported in refrigerated containers. Common container models can now reach a temperature of -25°C to +25°C and maintain it constantly during the entire transport. The temperatures are continuously monitored and recorded, which makes the reefer container an increasingly attractive means of loading.

To ensure the function and the associated safety for the customer, all reefer containers are subjected to a so-called PTI check. PTI stands for Pre-Trip Inspection and guarantees a careful inspection of the container by the depot before the container is handed over. This includes the following checks:

  • Cleaning
  • Checking the interior of the container for compliance with food transport requirements
  • Checking the electronics
  • Ensuring that the temperature is lowered at the required time

To meet the rapidly growing demand for refrigerated transport, the Langhorst Group has also adapted and equipped the fleet with the company’s own refrigerated chassis. The chassis are regularly maintained and repaired in the in-house workshop to guarantee the highest reliability for our customers. In addition, all drivers are specially trained in handling refrigerated chassis to ensure proper handling and to be able to react immediately in case of emergency. We rely on reliable partners throughout Europe, who immediately take action in the event of a breakdown to ensure that our vehicles can continue their journey quickly.

All transports are supported by our extensive EDP system. This enables us to transfer all instructions directly to the on-board computer of our vehicles. In addition, our drivers document the temperature of the container using checklists and photos. This allows us to confirm compliance with the cold chain even after the transport and provide our customers with all the necessary information.

Our premises are also equipped with our own connection points for refrigerated containers. This not only allows our customers to avoid expensive storage charges at the port, but also gives them maximum flexibility in their planning.
